Cambridge International IGCSE English as a Second Language (Speaking Endorsement) (0510 & 0993) is designed for learners whose first language is not English but who already have a working knowledge of the language. The course develops confidence in using English effectively for education, employment and everyday communication.
Learners develop practical skills in reading, writing, listening and speaking through engaging, real-world topics and situations. The course encourages clear communication, accurate grammar and vocabulary, and the ability to understand and respond appropriately in a wide range of contexts, helping students become confident users of English.
This qualification provides an excellent foundation for further study and future employment by strengthening essential communication skills. In the Speaking Endorsement syllabus, the speaking test is reported separately and does not contribute to the overall qualification grade. The 0510 and 0993 syllabuses cover the same content and assessments, with the main difference being the grading scale used in different administrative zones.
