Cambridge International IGCSE English as a Second Language (Count-in Speaking)

Cambridge International IGCSE English as a Second Language (Count-in Speaking) (0511 & 0991) is designed for learners whose first language is not English but who already have a working knowledge of the language. The course develops confidence in using English effectively in academic, professional and everyday situations.

Learners build practical skills in reading, writing, listening and speaking through engaging, real-world topics and activities. The course encourages clear communication, accurate language use and the ability to understand and respond appropriately in a wide range of contexts, while developing vocabulary, grammar and pronunciation.

This qualification provides an excellent foundation for further study and future employment, helping learners become confident and effective communicators in English. In the Count-in Speaking syllabus, the speaking component contributes to the overall qualification grade. The 0511 and 0991 syllabuses cover the same content and assessments, with the main difference being the grading scale used in different administrative zones.
