Cambridge International IGCSE Co-ordinated Sciences (Double Award) (0654 & 0973) gives learners the opportunity to study Biology, Chemistry and Physics within a single integrated course, leading to a Double Award qualification. The course develops scientific knowledge, practical investigation skills and an understanding of how science explains the natural world, while preparing students for further study and everyday life.
Learners explore key concepts from all three sciences, including cells and living organisms, chemical reactions, atomic structure, forces, energy, electricity, magnetism, waves and environmental science. Practical work is an important part of the course, helping students develop experimental, analytical and problem-solving skills through investigations, data interpretation and the evaluation of scientific evidence.
This qualification awards two IGCSE grades, making it more comprehensive than Combined Science while requiring fewer teaching hours than studying Biology, Chemistry and Physics as three separate subjects. It provides an excellent foundation for further study, including Cambridge International AS & A Level sciences and other STEM-related qualifications. The 0654 and 0973 syllabuses cover the same content and assessments, with the main difference being the grading scale used in different administrative zones
